Benedum Struggles at Roaring Knob

After a weekend away from the track, Mike Benedum returned to the seat of his #25 BSI Well Service/Longhorn/Roush Yates Racing Engine Super Late Model over the weekend at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex (Markleysburg, Pennsylvania).

Friday night's opening round of the annual Big Kahuna posted a $2,000 top prize for competitors, as thirty-two Super Late Models converged on the 3/8 mile oval. Benedum finished third in his heat race before racing to a 21st place finish in the preliminary feature.

Saturday evening saw the winner's check increased to $5,000 for the event, which was sanctioned by the Three State Flyers Series. Thirty-three Super Late Models entered the event, and a heat race win earned Mike a starting spot in the Big Kahuna finale. He battled at the front of the pack early on before being forced to retire to a 22nd place finish.
