Mike Benedum Returns to LOLMDS Competition
Mike Benedum resumed competition with the ultra-competitive, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) over the weekend with a pair of events in Ohio and Indiana.
The weekend began at Atomic Speedway (Chillicothe, Ohio) for the Buckeye Spring 50, which boosted a $10,000 top prize. Forty Super Late Models registered for the event, and a sixth place finish in his heat race left Mike just short of locking into the feature. As a result he would have to run a b-main where he registered a fifth place finish. Unfortunately, only the top three finishers moved on to the 50-lap finale, ending Benedum's night early.
Saturday night found the team pitted at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) for the 18th Annual Indiana Icebreaker. Forty-one entries converged on the historic oval, as Mike once again finished sixth in his heat race, sending him to a b-main. He failed to reach a transfer position in the b-main however, utilized a series emergency provisional to lock into the 25th starting spot on the feature grid. Passing would prove to be difficult in the 50-lap main event as Benedum only managed a 21st place finish at the checkered flag.
