Benedum Earns Career Best LOLMDS Finish in Winternationals

Monday evening's program at East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Florida) was washed away by Mother Nature, pushing the start of the 39th Annual Winternationals back to Tuesday night.

Forty-two entries filled the pit area for the $5,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) event. Mike fell one spot short of the transfer in heat race action, sending him to a B-Main. He later finish second in his b-main which locked him into the 20th starting spot for the 25-lap feature. Benedum advanced nine positions during the course of the main event to a solid eleventh place finish in the final rundown.

Wednesday night's LOLMDS program boosted a $7,000 top prize in the second round of the 39th Annual East Bay Raceway Park Winternationals. Forty-three Super Late Models were on hand for the event. Unfortunately, Benedum would battle the handle on his #25 BSI Well Service/Longhorn/Roush Yates Racing Engine entry throughout the night and fail to qualify for the 35-lap finale.

Mike charged to a career-best Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) finish on Thursday night, overcoming his week-long struggles to earn a solid runner-up finish in the $7,000-to-win program. Benedum started his outing by posting the fifth quickest lap in Group B of LOLMDS time trials, earning him the third starting spot for his heat race. A second place finish in heat race action would position Mike starting sixth in the 45-lap finale. During the course of the feature, Benedum battled amongst the top five for much of the event before crossing the finish line in second behind race winner, Billy Moyer.
