Benedum Attends North/South Weekend at Florence Speedway

Thursday night saw Mike Benedum return to action at Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky) powering the Eric Hudkins-owned No. 8 Super Late Model. Drawing 52 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series entries for the North/South Shootout, Benedum laid down the second fastest lap in his group before placing 2nd in his heat behind Frank Heckenast Jr. With $10,000 on the line in the opening night feature, Mike slipped back to a 17th place outing. 1The following night competing in pair of heat races, Mike came in 7th in his first heat before charging to a 10-lap victory. Failing to place in the Top 16 in passing points, Benedum transferred into the B-Main on Saturday night for another shot at the $50,000-to-win finale.

Needing to place in the Top 2, Benedum streaked to a 15-lap consolation victory locking his spot into the show. Rolling off 17th, Mike Benedum dropped seven spots in the 100-lapper recording a 24th place finish.
