Mike Benedum weathers rough week at East Bay Raceway Park

Returning to the state of Florida, Mike Benedum and his crew made the haul to East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, FL) on Tuesday afternoon after the first-night of the Wieland Winternationals was postponed due to rain showers.

With a whopping 75 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series cars checked in, Benedum missed the setup in qualifying and was unable to make up any spots in his heat race. Needing a Top-2 finish in his B-Main, Mike recorded a 10th-place outing.

On Wednesday afternoon, Mike once again found himself battling for a transfer spot in a B-Main. Despite making ground, Benedum finished outside of an A-Main transfer.

With the purse elevated to $10,000-to-win on Thursday, Mike finished 10th in his heat race which buried him in a B-Main. Benedum was a scratch for the remainder of the evening.

With Monday's make-up event spanning multiple days, Mike stopped the clock 12th-fastest on Tuesday and finished fifth in Wednesday's heat. Rolling off fourth in his B-Main, Benedum faded to 10th and was unable to participate in the make-up feature on Thursday.

With mechanical issues plaguing the team all week, Benedum decided to load up early and prepare for next week's DIRTcar Nationals.
